Less than 20 percent of available farmland in Sierra Leone is being used for food production. “Sierra Leone faces a huge dependency on food importation, irrespective of the country’s potential for agricultural production,” says Tennyson Williams of ActionAid.
At ILF we are hoping to change this through sustainable farming programs. Farmers are given resources including seeds, tools and an area to plant. 10% of what is reaped goes back to ILF for our feeding programs and future use. Farmers learn how to build sustainability and have a source to feed their families/community.
ILF's vision is to empower, engage, and grow leaders so that they may lead their communities out of the depths of poverty, become self-sustaining, and rise up to lead future generations in a Gospel-centered environment.
